About this event
As the UK’s first sickle-cell and thalassemia nurse specialist, Professor Dame Elizabeth Anionwu knows what it takes to be on the frontline of healthcare. Leading the fight against a disease that hasn’t always received the attention it required, Dame Anionwu has been instrumental in putting sickle-cell onto the NHS agenda.
Alongside many other achievements, she was responsible for setting up the UK’s first sickle-cell and thalassemia counselling centre, based in Brent. This event will focus on her journey to make this possible, as well as what more needs to be done to ensure we’re prioritising conditions that affect some of our most underserved communities.
There will be lots of time for Q&A, but please note we're not able to answer questions about your personal health or care.
