If you need cancer information and advice for yourself or want to support a loved one, here are several organisations and groups that can help.

Cancer information and support organisations:

 

  • Macmillan Cancer Support: A charity that gives practical, medical and financial support to people with cancer in the UK. Its helpline gives guidance on cancer and benefits; they also publish booklets about cancer and treatments in other languages.

  • Cancer Voices: A UK wide network of people affected by cancer, supported by Macmillan Cancer Support. You can also use your experience of cancer to help shape the future of cancer care, such as taking part in surveys or research.

  • Cancer Hair Care: Offers advice and support on everything in relation to hair loss, hair loss prevention and hair care, before, during and after cancer treatments.

Cancer and employment services:

 

  • Working With Cancer: A service that helps employees,  job seekers and carers to manage cancer and work. They run training workshops and provide coaching support for cancer patients and survivors on how to manage work, go back to work or find employment.

  • ASTRiiD: A not-for-profit organisation that connects businesses with people who have long term health problems, including cancer. A person can register down their experience and skills along with how much time they can spend working with a new employer.

Cancer support for young people:

 

  • Riprap: A UK website designed to support to teenagers of all ages who have a parent affected by cancer. They have an email information service, an online forum and information about local support.

  • Young Lives vs Cancer: A charity that gives practical, financial and emotional support for young people and their families who are affected by cancer. You can get in contact with the social care team below.

  • The Youth Cancer Trust: A company that provides free holidays to young cancer patients between the ages of 14 to 30 attending any hospital in the UK, subject to approval from their doctor.  Young people are invited to spend a few days with other young people with a similar condition or age at Tracy Anne House. They can take a trusted person with them to have a break from the hospital environment.

  • Teenage Cancer Trust: A national charity providing specialist units, expert staff, support events, education and information for 13-24 year olds diagnosed with cancer, and families and friends.

    Teenage Cancer Trust also work healthcare professionals and researchers to developing cancer care for teenagers and young adults.
