The new Willesden Eyecare Centre

We are sharing details about the new eyecare centre in Willesden and what it will mean for patients in Brent and wider north west London.

The new centre was set up in response to a 2022 NHS review of eyecare services which recommended community-based eye services, supported by input from secondary care, for example ophthalmologists.

The Willesden Eye Care Centre is managed by London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust as part of ophthalmology services provided at Central Middlesex Hospital. Some diagnostics that previously took place at Central Middlesex have now moved to the new centre.

The new Willesden Eyecare Centre is based at:

The Willesden Centre for Health & Care

Robson Avenue London

NW10 3RY

The Willesden Centre for Health & Care is home to other NHS services, including a recently opened Community Diagnostic Centre.

We support the roll-out of the eyecare centre. Not only will it provide ophthalmic diagnostics for new referrals, the Eye Care Liaison Officer will offer practical and emotional support to patients from initial diagnosis and throughout their eye care journey. In addition, there is higher than average rates of sight loss in Brent, which suggests that there is a difference in how eye services are delivered across boroughs.
