The areas we will focus on this year
Healthwatch Brent priority service areas – September to December 2015.
Mental Health: Keeping well in the Community. This is part of the Health and Wellbeing Board’s strategy as it looks to make the work of the NHS and Adult Social Care more joined up. We will liaise with a range of partners including Central and North West London Mental Health Trust, the Council, Brent NHS (CCG), and local charities. We will be actively seeking the views of Brent people who use such services – please contact us if you would like to share your experience.
Blood tests (Phlebotomy) – the patient experience. We have received a number of concerns about lost and repeated testing. We also know that Brent CCG (NHS) did some work to improve things last year. To start with we have sent out a short questionnaire to find out what is the experience of patients. From these experiences we will see if anything needs to be improved and we will work with services to help to iron out any problems. We have a new Primary Care Group starting in September and we hope that they will be keen to take this on as a project. If you have had a blood test in the last 5 months, please let us know what your experience was by completing this form.
FGM (Female Genital Mutilation). This is a known concern that is particularly common on Brent. A lot of work was done by Brent Council and partners from 2013-14. Our team of volunteer researchers are looking at what has happened since then. We will then set out a programme of work. If you or your organisation would like to be involved or have information to share, please let us know.
